PALMER — Eight different Palmer players scored runs as the Pioneers grabbed their second win in Fairbanks in as many days, a 17-1 victory over Bartlett Saturday night.
Seven scored at least twice in the win to help the Pioneers improve to 2-1 during their three-day, four-game stay in the Interior city. Kolten Ketchum and Caleb Engst each scored three runs. Trace Severson, Alasdair McKechnie, Zack Satterly, Eli Smith and Aaron Christiansen scored two runs each. Kaden Ketchum rounded out the scoring.
Kaden Ketchum also drove in a team-high two runs and led his squad with two hits in the win.
49ers 14, Pioneers 4
The Fairbanks 49ers scored a 14-4 win over Palmer Saturday afternoon in Fairbanks.
Eli Smith was 2 for 2 with two runs to lead he Pioneers. Zack Satterly also had a pair of hits.
Pioneers 9, Wild 7
Friday night, a pair of veterans came through for the Palmer Pioneers.
Catcher Kolten Ketchum and outfielder Aaron Christiansen were a combined 6 for 6 at the plate, and helped the Pioneers score a 9-7 win over the Alaska Wild in Fairbanks.
Ketchum and Christiansen finished with three hits each in the victory. Ketchum drove in three runs and scored twice. Christiansen added a run and two RBI.
After taking a 4-0 lead in the first, Palmer used a three-run eighth to cement the win, its second league victory of the season. With the score tied at 6, Ketchum and Christiansen collected consecutive singles and Kaden Ketchum was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Alasdair McKechnie singled and drove in a run to give Palmer the 7-6 lead. Zack Satterly followed with a two-run single to add to Palmer’s lead.
Satterly added two hits and two RBI in the win. Kaden Ketchum and Eli Smith also scored two runs each.
