PALMER — The Palmer Pioneers held an early lead, but East Anchorage piled up the hits en route to a victory.
East used 18 hits and nine unanswered runs to post a 10-3 American Legion win over the Pioneers Sunday afternoon in Palmer.
Leadoff hitter Aaron Christiansen reached on a bunt single to spark the Pioneers early. After a Trace Severson walk, Kolten Ketchum singled to load the bases. Austin Reeder used an RBI single to tie the score at 1. Later in the inning, Kalen Huddleston drove in a pair of runs with a single, and gave the Pioneers a 3-1 lead.
Kaden Ketchum led Palmer with a pair of hits in the loss.
Palmer fell to 1-4 with the loss.
Warriors fall in Juneau
The Wasilla Road Warriors finished 0-4 during a three-day road trip to Juneau.
Wasilla opened the trip with a 12-4 loss June 16. Juneau followed with a doubleheader sweep, 5-0 and 14-2, on June 17. Juneau capped the series with a 9-3 victory on Sunday. Two of the losses were in league play. Wasilla is now 3-2.
