PALMER — After West Anchorage took the lead, Palmer had the answer.
The Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom of the third and earned a 6-3 American Legion baseball win over the Eagles Saturday in Palmer.
Joe Ryan blasted a three-run homer in the third to give Palmer the 5-3 lead. Palmer had led 2-0 early, but West jumped on top with three runs in the top of the third. Skyler Hale and Kolten Ketchum, who both scored earlier in the inning, scored on the Ryan dinger.
Ryan was 2 for 2, with three runs and three RBI to lead Palmer. Owen Hayes added an RBI and Jeremy Allen also scored a run.
In other American Legion action, a Wasilla rally fell short during a 4-3 loss to Chugiak on Saturday.
Taylon Ottinger and Ben Werner each scored runs during the top of the ninth, but the Mustangs held on for the one-run win in Chugiak. Werner was 4 of 4 at the plate, to lead the Warriors.
