Palmer Junior Middle School recently held its All School Spelling Bee with over 55 participants.
Students in all three grade levels — sixth, seventh and eighth — participated in the annual schoolwide spelling bee with parents, staff and community members cheering them on.
“It is important for students to get involved in school events ! These activities are tremendous self esteem builders,” PJMS teacher and event organizer Linda Jo Klapperich said. “It takes a lot of courage for these students to get up in front of everyone.”
Klapperich has been organizing the All School Spelling Bee for over 20 years. She will be the pronouncer again this year at the State Spelling bee in Anchorage March 21.
Overall winner Brennan Ling will take an online test to qualify for the state spelling bee.
