Polar Plunge grant application deadline is Dec. 31

WASILLA — Mat-Su Sertoma Club will accept applications until Dec. 31 for this year’s eighth annual Mat-Su Polar Plunge. This year’s fundraiser begins at noon, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Rumrunner’s Mat-Su Resort on Wasilla Lake.

Last year, funds went to Turn A Leaf and The Food Pantry of Wasilla. Two different organizations will be selected as this year’s beneficiaries.

Grant recipients for the 2011 Polar Plunge Applicants must be from nonprofit organizations and members of the Mat-Su Sertoma Club.

The 2012 recipients will be announced in January and the community is welcome to meet and greet representatives of both organizations during the Mat-Su Polar Plunge.

Official sponsorship opportunities are still available at matsuplunge.com. Plungers are also encouraged to register on the website and become a part of the “Original Valley Dip.” Each individual jumper is asked to raise a minimum of $100.

The Mat-Su Sertoma Club meets each Thursday at 5 p.m. at Tailgater’s restaurant.
