Aug. 24, 4:45 a.m., Miles 71-117 Parks Highway, Trapper Creek. Troopers arrested 55-year old Howard Hoelscher of Anchorage for disorderly conduct. According to reports, police received several reports of a man, later identified as Hoelscher, lying by and in the road. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
Aug. 24, 1:08 a.m., Sunshine Drive, Talkeetna. Responding to a reported disturbance, troopers charged 55-year old Karen Hudson of Talkeetna for second-degree harassment through the district attorney’s office. Police say she came onto private property without invitation and verbally insulted, taunted, and threatened the occupant when told to leave.
Aug. 24, 10:45 a.m., Full Curl Road, Wasilla. Troopers with the AST Criminal Suppression Unit arrested Laura R. Beach on an outstanding felony DUI warrant. According to reports, Beach provided false identification the previous day. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $5,000 cash only bail.
Aug. 23, 6:35 p.m., East Mulchatna Drive, Wasilla. Troopers arrested 28-year old Xavier Perez of Wasilla for first-degree burglary and second-degree theft. According to police, Perez entered a residence and stole several items. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial facility with bail set at $1,500 cash/corporate.
Aug. 18, Big Lake. Following an investigation by AST General Investigation Unit (GUI), 29-year old Blake Jepson of St. Helens, Oregon, was extradited from Oregon back to Alaska on charges of first-degree sexual assault. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with bail set at $50,000.
Aug. 25, 1:41 a.m., Holly Way, Wasilla. Troopers arrested 21-year old Alexandra Overway of Wasilla on an outstanding failure to appear warrant on the original charge of fourth-degree theft. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $50 cash bail.
Aug. 25, 2:42 a.m., Snow Goose Derive, Wasilla. Troopers continue their investigation into a vehicle theft. According to reports, the vehicle was taken from a residence then found crashed nearby. Anyone with information is asked to contact AST or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
Aug. 25, 2:51 p.m., Skip Circle, Wasilla. Troopers arrested 38-year old Jason Campbell of Wasilla for second-degree theft and tampering with physical evidence. According to reports, police received a report of a stolen trailer from property on Skip Circle. At approximately 8 p.m. that evening, troopers driving on Trunk Road observed a freshly painted trailer with its identifiable characteristics altered, being towed by a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Following a traffic stop, police say Campbell admitted to the theft and altering the trailer. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial facility where bail was set at $1,500.
Aug. 25, 10:55 a.m., County Drive-Knik-Goose Bay Road, Wasilla. Troopers continue an investigation into the reported theft of more than $2,000 worth of Dewalt tools from the new post office construction site. Police say the theft occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. the previous evening and 8 a.m. on Aug. 25. Anyone with information is asked to contact AST at 352-5401 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
Aug. 17, Knik River, Palmer. Wildlife troopers charged 71-year old Patrick Hodsdon and 85-year old Max Hodsdon, both of Palmer, with prohibited conduct. According to reports, the two were observed unlawfully harvesting salmon with a dipnet. Troopers seized the net, cooler, and four silver salmon. Both have mandatory Oct. 3 appearances in Palmer Court.
Aug. 20, Knik River Public Use Area (KRPUA), Palmer. While patrolling the area, wildlife troopers cited: 55-year old Linda Baxter of Fairbanks, 19-year old Zachary Paulsberg of Anchorage, 46-year old Arturo Zuniga of Anchorage, and 31-year old Amanda Dehart of Anchorage for unlawful burning. KRPUA regulations prohibit the burning of non-naturally occurring materials such as pallets, dimensional lumber, trash, cans, bottles, cardboard, among other items, inside the KRPUA and violating the regulation results in a $60 fine, police say.
Aug. 12, Eureka Trailhead, Eureka. Troopers cited 32-year old Severino Elardo III of Anchorage for failing to properly validate a caribou harvest ticket by immediately removing the day and month of the kill. Bail was set at $110 with an optional appearance within 30 days.
July 19, Knik River Public Use Area (KRPUA), Palmer. While patrolling the area, wildlife troopers cited: 26-year old Toddrick McFadden of Charlotte, North Carolina; 62-year old David Benoit of Alameda, California; 30-year old Andrew Benoit and 25-year old Patrick Higgins, both Anchorage for using the KRPUA gun range when closed. According to police, shooting in the KRPUA is prohibited except at the Kenny and Patti Barber range on Maud Road which is closed Wednesdays. The fine for violating the rule is an $85 fine. All were issued the fine with an optional appearance to appear in court within 30 days.
Aug. 7, 1:30 p.m., Jim Creek, Palmer. Wildlife troopers cited 49-year old Herbert Adams of Palmer for sport fishing in closed waters. Bail was set at $110 with an option to appear in Palmer Court within 30 days.
Aug. 7, 5:10 p.m., Jim Creek, Palmer. Wildlife troopers cited 27-year old Judy Chanhtaseng of Anchorage for sport fishing in closed waters. Bail was set at $110 with an option to appear in Palmer Court within 30 days.
Aug. 23, 2:30 p.m., Game Management Unit 20A, Healy. Wildlife troopers issued a summons to 51-year old Allen Carter of Healy for taking a wolverine during closed season. Police say an investigation revealed Carter was hunting on the east side of Sugar Loaf Mountain in Game Management Unit 20A on Aug. 15 while the season was closed. Wolverine hunting in that unit doesn’t begin until Sept. 1, troopers said. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday in Nenana District Court.
