Aug. 2, 11:26 p.m., Big Lake. Troopers arrested Cody James Aker on charges of first-degree eluding, first and second-degree vehicle theft, and on an outstanding failure to appear warrant on the original charge of third-degree misconduct involving a weapon. According to reports, police attempted to pull over the driver of a pickup for multiple moving violations. Troopers state the vehicle refused to yield and reached speeds of 97 miles per hour before the driver lost control while making a turn and rolled into the ditch. Reports state the driver, later identified as Aker, attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. Investigation revealed the 2009 GMC Sierra he was driving was reported stolen on July 29. Aker was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.
July 28, 8:44 p.m., Glennallen. Following a traffic stop, troopers arrested 46-year-old Edward Macy of Copper Center on an outstanding warrant. Macy was transported to AST Glennallen.
Aug. 2, 2:09 a.m., Mile 187.5 Glenn Highway. Following a traffic stop for an equipment violation, troopers cited 21-year-old Craig Allen Craig for driving with a revoked license and for possession of alcohol. Police say Craig was aware of his driving status and issued a citation to appear in Glennallen court at a later date. He was released at the scene and the vehicle released to a licensed driver.
Aug. 3, 6:38 p.m., South Ruth Street-Leota, Wasilla. Responding to a reported vehicle in a ditch, troopers arrested the driver, 48-year-old Victor Barve of Wasilla, on DUI charges. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with bail set at $500.
Aug. 3, 7:44 p.m., Wasilla. Troopers arrested 24-year-old Aaron Richardson of Wasilla after receiving a report that he wanted to turn himself in. Investigation revealed that Richardson had an outstanding arrest warrant out on the original charge of DUI. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where bail was set at $100.
