May 23, 11:29 p.m., Eklutna Tailrace Recreation Area. Responding to a report of unsafe shooting, troopers arrested 31-year old Edwin Shellabarger of Anchorage for third-degree misconduct involving a weapon. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $2,000 bail.
May 25, 2:27 a.m., Glenn Highway. Assisting Anchorage Police Department (APD), troopers arrested 31-year old Katie Jones of Anchorage for DUI, reckless driving, third-degree assault, and failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer. According to reports, APD notified Palmer AST that a black Dodge Durango had eluded officers and was last observed at 2:14 a.m. heading north on Glenn Highway at a high rate of speed and without headlights on. At 2:54 a.m., troopers located the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near mile 76 of the Parks Highway. After attempting a traffic stop, the driver immediately accelerated to speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to reports. A second AST vehicle joined the pursuit which continued northbound until mile 102 of the Parks Highway where troopers used a “patrol intervention technique” to immobilize the Durango. Jones was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial. Bail had not been set as of press deadline.
Alaska Wildlife Troopers
May 25, Dutch Harbor. Wildlife troopers cited 32-year old Anatoly Martushev of Wasilla for commercial fishing Sablefish near King Cove without possessing a valid 2017 Commercial Fisheries Entry Permit.
May 23, 7 p.m., Big Lake. Wildlife troopers cited 37-year old Virgil Schumacher of Big Lake for fishing in closed waters. Investigation revealed Schumacher was not only fishing on closed waters, troopers reported he did not possess a valid 2017 sport fishing license. In addition to the citation, he was warned about fishing without a license and then released from the scene.
May 21, 1:35 p.m. Wildlife troopers cited 38-year old John-Wesley McIntyre of Anchorage for fishing without a valid 2017 sport fishing license.
Palmer Police Department
May 16. Police issued a summons to 63-year old Tommy A. Stanford of Anchorage for disorderly conduct.
May 16. Police investigated the theft of a riding lawnmower from the area of Sherrod Sports Complex.
May 17. Police took two reports from Palmer residents concerning stolen items from their vehicles.
May 17. Police issued a summons to 34-year old David Reed Jr. of Anchorage for fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
May 19. Police arrested 27-year old Jared Faust of Palmer for failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, reckless driving, and no valid operator’s license. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where bail was set at $500 cash/corporate.
May 20. Police arrested 40-year old Leah Nicole Hecker of Palmer for DUI. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where bail was set at $1,500 cash.
May 21. Police arrested 27-year old Jarrod D. Freeman of Palmer on a $500 failure to appear warrant on the original charge of criminal mischief. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
May 21. Police arrested 41-year old Seth D. Mergler of Anchorage for driving while license revoked. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where bail was set at $250 cash performance.
