Items in the Police Beat are taken from local law enforcement press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Palmer Police Department

April 24. Police arrested 33-year-old Charles Hodges Jr., of Palmer on a $5,000 probation violation warrant on the original charge of felony DUI. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

April 26. Police arrested 19-year-old Caleb Shaishnikoff of Anchorage on charges of first-degree vehicle theft. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.

April 27. Police arrested 23-year-old Mario G.. Artola of Palmer on charges of fourth-degree assault. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

April 28. Police arrested 53-year-old Melinda Day of Chugiak on a $500 warrant on original charges of DUI. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

April 30. Police arrested 38-year-old Martha Nicholai Binkley of Palmer on charges of fourth-degree theft. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and released on her own recognizance.

Wasilla Police Department

April 28, 2:59 p.m., East Palmer Wasilla Highway. Police continue an investigation into a reported shoplifting after the fact at Infusion Boutique.

April 28, 8:40 p.m., West Mystery Avenue. Responding to an assault after the fact, police charged Kayleigh Rouse with fourth-degree assault through the district attorney's office. Police report the victim had visible injuries and EMS responded for evaluation.

April 29, 2:53 p.m., Parks Highway. responding to an area restaurant for an assault, police arrested

Ariel Bookout on charges of fourth-degree domestic violence assault. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

April 30, 12:34 a.m., South Knik-Goose Bay-South Vine roads. Conducting a traffic stop for numerous traffic infractions, police arrested Anas Dowl on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

April 30, 1:08 p.m. After failing to capture a stray dog walking in the roadway which eventually returned to its owner, police arrested Caley Cassidy on an outstanding arrest warrant and providing false information. Officers contacted Cassidy because she had violated the Wasilla municipal code. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

April 30, 7:34 p.m., South Seward-Meridian Parkway. Responding to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart, police cited Michael Eastham for fourth-degree theft.

May 1, 6:10 p.m., South Enterprise Street. Police continue an investigation into a reported theft after the fact.

May 3, 4:56 p.m., West Jensen Circle-North Lucille Street. Conducting a stop for a traffic violation, police arrested Daniel Williams on a fugitive from justice warrant. Police say Williams was driving on an instructional permit without a licensed driver in the vehicle. A records check revealed he was wanted in Louisiana on an outstanding failure to register as a sex offender warrant. Williams was taken to Mat-Su Pretrial.

May 3, 5:02 p.m., South Seward-Meridian Parkway. Responding to Walmart for a shoplifter in custody report, police cited Angela Doxey for shoplifting and escorted her from the property. Police report she had stolen $176.72 in merchandise.

May 4, 10:38 a.m. Police took possession of a found mountain bike on Railroad Avenue. It was placed in safekeeping.
