On September 29, 2017 at 0342 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of a theft. The complainant reported someone had stolen $900 from his wallet while he was at the Mug-Shot Saloon. The case is currently under investigation.
On September 29, 2017 at 1610 hours, Wasilla Police responded to the intersection of the Parks Highway and N. Alpine Street for a motor vehicle collision
On September 29, 2017 at 1625 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on N. Lucille Street at Herning Avenue.
On September 29, 2017 at 1622 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of a hit and run collision at the intersection of N. Crusey Street and E. Parks Highway. The case is currently under investigation.
On September 29, 2017 at 1707 hours, Wasilla Police responded to the senior housing complex on E. Frank Smith Way for a reported natural death.
On September 29, 2017 at 2012 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at W. Nicola Avenue and N. Church Road. One of the drivers was identified as Esther Starkey who was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Starkey was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility.
On September 29, 2017 at 2047 hours, Wasilla Police responded to Fruitland restaurant on E. Parks Highway for a reported theft. An employee of the restaurant reported a male had entered the store and stole her iPhone 7 Plus, which was valued at $800. The victim and several co-workers assisted officers with locating the suspect who was identified as Matthew Sandvik. Sandvik confessed to the theft and the phone was returned to the victim. Sandvik was charged with theft in the 3rd degree through the District Attorney's office.
On September 30, 2017 at 0943 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of found property. The complainant reported having found a cell phone and a purse outside a residence on N. Creste Foris Street. Officers arrived on scene and took possession of the property which was placed into safekeeping.
On September 30, 2017 at 1105 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a reported disturbance near City Hall on E. Herning Avenue. During the investigation a credit card belonging to an uninvolved party was located. The credit card was seized. The card holder was notified and reported no recent thefts and advised the card had not been used. The owner of the card requested officers dispose of the card, as it had already been cancelled.
On September 30, 2017 at 1312 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on the Parks Highway near Alpine Street.
On September 30, 2017 at 1604 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of a theft at Sportsman's Warehouse. An investigation revealed Nikolay Revutskiy had attempted to steal $285 worth of merchandise. Employees of the store attempted to stop Revutskiy and a scuffle ensued ending with injury to two employees . Revutskiy threatened to stab one employee with a knife and attempted to attack him with keys and bit him. Revutskiy also jabbed the other employee in t he eye with his finger and left a large visible injury on her chest. Revutskiy was located in the area and subsequently arrested for theft in the 2nd degree and assault in the 3rd and 4th degrees. Revutskiy was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility.
On October 1, 2017 at 1711 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of drug activity in the Sportsman's Warehouse parking lot. Officers responded to the area and made contact with the occupants of a vehicle who were identified as Donald Briggs and Hannah Dunnigan both of whom were in possession of controlled substances. The substances were seized and both were charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the 4th degree.
On October 1, 2017 at 1734 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of a theft from a vehicle. The complainant reported a shotgun had been stolen from his vehicle sometime within the 10 days prior to his reporting the loss. The case is currently under investigation.
On October 2, 2017 at 1851 hours, Wasilla Police responded to the Wasilla Lake Park parking lot at the intersection of the Parks Highway and Crusey Street for a motor vehicle collision.
On October 2, 2017 at 1908 hours, Wasilla Police received a report of a domestic violence protective order violation. Following an investigation, Joseph Mahoney was charged with the offense through the District Attorney's office.
On October 2, 2017 at 2128 hours, Wasilla Police responded to Walmart after receiving a report that a shoplifter had left the store with an unknown amount of merchandise. Officers contacted Felisha Thomas in the parking lot. An investigation revealed Thomas had stolen $123.57 worth of merchandise and had at least two prior theft convictions in the five years prior. Thomas was issued a criminal citation for theft in the 3 rd degree.
On October 2, 2017 at 2244 hours, Wasilla Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an inoperable headlight in the Mug-Shot Saloon parking lot on W. Parks Highway. The driver was identified as Brittani Knight who was found to be driving without a valid operator's license. Knight was issued a criminal citation for the offense.
On October 3, 2017 around 0833 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a rear-end vehicle collision near the intersection of Financial Dr. and Palmer-Wasilla Hwy.
On October 3, 2017 around 1350 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Commercial Ave and W Parks Hwy. One driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
On October 3, 2017 around 1500 hours, Wasilla Police received a report t hat two counterfeit $50 bills were used at McDonald’s to purchase food. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department. The investigation is continuing.
On October 3, 2017 at 1724 hours, Wasilla Police responded to the area of Aspen and Wasilla Fishhook reference a found safe. The safe was taken and logged into evidence as found property.
On October 3, 2017 around 1915 hours, Wasilla Police responded to Walmart for a theft that occurred on September 28. Investigation revealed that Anthony Harootunian stole merchandise in excess of $70. Charges of Theft in the Fourth Degree were forwarded to the District Attorney.
On October 3, 2017, at 2119 hours, Wasilla Police stopped a vehicle driven by Kealoha Torres. During the stop officers learned that Torres did not have a valid driver's license and did not have insurance on his vehicle. As a result, Torres was issued citations for Driving Without a Val id Driver's License and Failure to Maintain Vehicle Liability Insurance.
On October 4, 2017, Wasilla Police stopped Joshua Burgher for speeding. Burgher had a 15 year old female passenger, in which her guardians did not know she had left home. Burgher was on probation for Robbery in the second degree, in which conditions authorized a search of him and his vehicle. In the vehicle police found a loaded stolen pistol from Anchorage, along with a realistic looking air pellet pistol, and marijuana paraphernalia. Burgher was arrested and booked at the Mat-Su pretrial jail. He was charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Third (felony) and Fifth (misdemeanor) degrees, and Theft by Receiving/ Theft in the Second Degree of a firearm. He was also arrested on a Probation Violation and held without bail pending arraignment.
On October 4, 2017, at around 1530 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a single vehicle collision on the Palmer Wasilla Hwy near Roberts St.
On October 4, 2017, around 1850 hours, Wasilla Police responded to In Fusion for a report of theft after the fact. Investigation revealed that an unknown female suspect stole clothing worth $99.50. This case is still under investigation, anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department.
On October 4, 2017, around 1900 hours, Wasilla Police responded to Alaska Industrial Hardware for a report of an assault in progress in the parking lot. After investigation, Shayne Carroll was placed under arrest for Domestic Violence Assault in the Fourth Degree. Carroll was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial without bail.
On October 4, 2017 around 2300 hours, Wasilla Police stopped a vehicle driven by Andrew Shard. During the stop, investigation revealed that Shard was wanted out of Indiana on a warrant for drug possession. The originating agency in Indiana was contacted and the warrant and extradition was confirmed. Shard was placed under arrest for Fugitive from Justice and remanded at the Mat-Su Pretrial facility without bail.
On October 5, 2017 around 0800 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a residence for a report of a disturbance and shots fired. Further investigation revealed Nicholas Gage had been in an altercation, became upset, and fired a single round into a night stand. Gage then left the scene in his vehicle while firing into the air. Gage was later contacted at the Walmart parking lot and was subsequently arrested for two counts of Domestic Violence Assault in the Third Degree,
Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Reckless Endangerment. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with no bail.
On October 5, 2017 around 1840 hours, Wasilla Police responded t o a residence near Wasilla St for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked nearby that appeared to be involved with drug activity. Officers contacted Kevin Moore in the vehicle. Investigation revealed drug paraphernalia and weapons in the vehicle, as well as marijuana that was not from a licensed retailer. Moore was issued a citation for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree.

On 10/08/2017, at 1420 hours, Mat-Com received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle roll over with unknown injuries near mile 67 of the Glenn Hwy. Troopers responded from Palmer post to investigate. Initial investigation reveals Travis Goodlataw, age 33 of Gulkana, was driving a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am southbound on the Glenn Hwy near mile 67 when his vehicle entered the ditch and he lost control resulting in a roll over. He was carrying one adult passenger and two juvenile backseat passengers. Goodlataw and the juveniles were able to exit the vehicle with minor injuries but the female passenger, Norma Gene, age 47 of Tazlina, had to be extricated by first responders. She was sent to Mat Su Regional Hospital by medivac with injuries and the other occupants were transported by ambulance. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Investigation revealed John Johnson, age 30, of Wasilla, was operating a vehicle under the influence. Johnson was arrested for Driving under the Influence and refusal to submit a chemical breath sample. He was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial. Johnson’s bail was set at $1000 cash.

On 10/08/2017 at approximately 1008 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building in the area of Parks Hwy and Elizabeth Rd in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that the driver, Alexander Neesmith age 35 of Soldotna, left the roadway and crashed into the church. Drugs and alcohol are expected to be a factor. Investigation continues.

Investigation revealed that sometime during the evening of 10/07/17, or early morning of 10/08/17, suspect(s) stole an older RV trailer that was being used as a concession stand and a coordination center for the ballfields on Kim Drive. On 10/08/17, at approximately 1600 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in vicinity of Lanark Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that the driver, Jacob Knaus age 31 of Wasilla, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Knaus attempted to resist arrest and had small amounts of controlled substances on his person. Knaus was transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded, without bail, for the warrant, resisting arrest, and misconduct involving a controlled substance.

On 10/7/17 at approximately 1829 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report of a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe driving recklessly and at high speeds in the area of the Old Glenn Hwy and Plumley Rd. Troopers arrived and stopped the vehicle in a nearby parking lot and contacted two occupants, Austin Curato age 31 and Robert Harrigan age 56, both of Anchorage. Investigation revealed Curato was driving during the REDDI report time period and switched seats with Harrigan prior to AST arrival. Further investigation revealed both individuals were operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Curato had two prior DUI convictions within 10 years and had a revoked license for a prior DUI. Curato and Harrigan were arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. Both were remanded into custody with Harrigan to be released on his own recognizance and Curato with $1000 bail and a third party custodian requirement.

On 10/07/2017 at approximately 2341 hours, Alaska State Troopers were conducting an investigation at Newman’s Hilltop Tesoro in Willow when a Chevrolet Pickup drove up to the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, Corey James Shields, age 39 of Anchorage, was subsequently contacted. An investigation revealed Shields was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Shields was placed under arrest for DUI, transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer.

On 10/07/17, at approximately 1825 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of Bogard Road and N. Catalina Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Dale Young, age 34, of Wasilla, was under the influence of alcohol when he drove his vehicle in to the ditch. Young was placed under arrest for DUI and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was given a $500.00 cash performance bail.

On 09/12/17, at approximately 2142 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Mile 145 Glenn Hwy for the report of a single vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a white 2017 Nissan Rogue occupied by a 32yoa male from Ontario and a 28yoa female from Louisiana was traveling westbound on the Glenn Hwy when it struck a cow moose and two calf moose in the westbound lane of travel. The vehicle came to rest in the westbound ditch. Both occupants were transported by EMS to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The use of seatbelts was reported and alcohol was not a factor.

On 10/06/17 at 1750 hours, AST responded to a residence on Long Lake Road in Willow for the report of a burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. Investigation revealed sometime within the past week, a residence had been broken into with an installed Toyo Stove stolen from inside the dwelling. The suspect(s) failed to plug the heating oil line after they stole the Toyo Stove resulting in over 200 gallons of heating oil flooding the dwelling causing at least $5,000 damage to the property. Investigation revealed at approximately 0200 hours, GCI's utility box had 4 batteries stolen from it and the box sustained over $1,000 damage as a result of the theft. On 10/06/2017 at approximately 2033 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision with a moose at mile 116.5 of the Parks Highway in Trapper Creek. Cody Meek, age 27, of Fairbanks, was driving his 2016 Jeep Patriot northbound on the Parks when he collided with the moose. No injuries were reported. A local charity salvaged the animal.

On 10/6/17 at approximately 0020 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a green Ford F-150 on N Creekwood Park Cir for a moving violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Elijah Sandvik age 39 of Palmer, was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Sandvik was arrested and later refused to provide a sample of his breath for chemical testing. Sandvik was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded into custody with bail set at $1,000.

On 10/05/2017 at approximately 1253 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a single vehicle rollover at approximately mile 97.5 of the Parks Highway in Talkeetna. An investigation revealed Justin Shane Wood, age 37 of Eagle River was driving a 2015 white Ram 1500 southbound on the Parks Highway when he left the roadway causing the vehicle to overturn. No injuries were reported from the collision.

On 10/06/17 at 0445 hours, AST performed a traffic stop on a white Lincoln sedan for erratic driving near mile 50 of the Parks Highway in Wasilla. Investigation revealed the driver, Ashley Hilton age 32 of Wasilla, had 4 Felony warrants for her arrest for probation violation for the original charges of Theft in the 2nd Degree and Misconduct Involving Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree. Hilton was arrested for her outstanding warrants and transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where she was remanded into custody and held on $3,000 bail with a court approved third party condition.
