On June 14, 2018, an Anchorage jury convicted 29 year old Jolene Curtis of Robbery in the Second Degree. Curtis also pleaded guilty to violating her conditions of release by committing the offense.
The evidence at trial showed that on December 4, 2017, Jolene Curtis was asked to leave True Value hardware store. Upon leaving the store, Curtis stole a thin metal rod and clear plastic tubing. The owner had left the unlocked vehicle, with the key laying on the seat, parked in front of a gas station at W 88th Avenue and Jewel Lake. On the way to the jail Odell began to bang his head against the safety glass in the patrol car. Another officer arrived on scene to assist and Odell received medical treatment before remand.
