Just before midnight on May 29, 2018, Anchorage Police were contacted by an assault victim who is an acquaintance of 26-year-old Casey D. Mayer. At approximately 1:00 AM on May 29th Mayer woke the victim up and pointed a gun at her (Mayer had access to the victim’s residence and did not break in). Mayer demanded that the victim drive him to another residence; the victim complied as she was afraid Mayer would shoot her if she didn’t.
The two went to another residence where they stayed all day. Mayer drove the victim back home at around 8PM and then left after dropping her off. Since that time Mayer has sent threatening text messages to the victim. The victim was not physically injured.
Police have attempted to locate Mayer but have been unsuccessful. Officers obtained a felony warrant for Mayer’s arrest for Assault III. Mayer also has a felony warrant for Fail to Appear on an original charge of Misconduct Involving a Weapon III.

Last seen at 5:40 this evening in the area of Northern Lights and Wesleyan wearing a green short-sleeved shirt with a vest over top and black pants.
On 5/31/18 around 10 p.m., Dispatch received a report of animal cruelty in the 100 block of Eagle Street.
The preliminary investigation found that the suspect was spotted dragging and strangling a black dog. When officers with the Patrol Division arrived, the suspect was hanging the lifeless Labrador from a wooded fence via a leash around its neck. As he was taken into custody, he started fighting with officers and ignored their multiple commands to surrender safely. After a final command, he was tazed and arrested. Officers rescued the dog and transported it to a local animal hospital. The dog’s life was saved and it was transported to Anchorage Animal Care and Control.
The suspect has been identified as Christopher Baker (39-years-old). He faces charges of Cruelty to Animals and Resisting Arrest.
At 11:50 AM on Tuesday officers stopped on a parked and occupied stolen vehicle at E 12th and Cordova; the occupants were taken into custody. As other officers were in route to the area, they saw a black Expedition driving recklessly southbound on Cordova. At 12:07 PM the Expedition struck an adult male pedestrian who was on the sidewalk on Cordova between 9th and 10th. The Expedition continued on and drove past the original group of officers who were at the stolen vehicle scene. One of those officers saw the Expedition and stopped it. The female driver and female passenger were both taken into custody for questioning.
The adult male pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. His identity will not be released until next-of-kin notification has been made.
The investigation is ongoing; no charges have been filed as of this time. Cordova between 9th and 10thAvenues continues to be closed while the area is being processed.
The Expedition is not believed to be connected to the stolen vehicle scene; they are two separate incidents.
