WASILLA — A 34-year-old man is facing several charges after he allegedly drove a stolen motorized shopping cart away from the Wasilla Carrs store while intoxicated.
According to a Wasilla Police Department press release, police were called to the store at around 8:22 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a missing cart. A short time later they located Michael S. Lee riding the cart about a block away near the intersection of Boundary Street and Swanson Avenue.
Police said Lee — who had previously been barred from entering the store — was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his alleged joyride. He was arrested for driving under the influence, second-degree criminal trespass, theft and driving while license revoked and taken to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where records show he was held on $2,500 cash/corporate bail with a court-approved third party custodian requirement.
