Power restored after widespread outage

MAT-SU — About 2.5 hours after multiple Matanuska Electric Association substations went down leaving about 15,000 customers in the dark, power has been restored to nearly all MEA members, the co-op reports. Most customers saw power return in a little over an hour, but for about 3,000 people, the blackout continued until about 12:30 a.m., Sunday. The last areas to come online included about 1,400 MEA customers in Palmer and more than 1,600 in the Butte.

If you're still without power, call MEA at 746-7697.
