Praise for Outdoors columnist

To the editor:

I look forward to (Howard Delo’s Outdoors) column every week and have often thought about dropping you a line. But this past week’s column on Ron Wilson mandated that I write.

My wife and I first visited Susitna Landing this year after reading your earlier column on the landing. We want to thank you for enlightening us to a great (possibly the best) RV/campground in the Valley. Our first visit was the week of your previous column and, upon meeting the current managers, told them about your column. They hadn’t seen it yet and we dialed in up on the Internet and they were really touched.

Since then we have spent many weekends at the landing with our truck camper. What a delight. We especially like the gated access and controlled atmosphere were a bunch or yahoos can’t come in during the middle of the night all tanked up and start making all kinds of racket. Further, the fishing was great for both silvers and chums. We also delight at being able to park our camper right next to the river.

With regard to Ron Wilson (and his wife), it was great for you to tell his story for everyone in the Valley to read. We have copied the column and placed it in our travel binder and will surely read it again when we head up to the landing this spring.

Keep up the great column.
