PALMER — Colony High School senior Sabrina Pralle was named the Alaska state winner of the 2012-13 Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement. After graduation, Pralle plans to study molecular biology or biochemistry with focus on pre-medical.
The Siemens Award goes to the top male and female performers in science and math Advance Placement courses in each state who also receive a $2,000 scholarship. Separately, the top male and female winners nationally also receive $5,000 scholarships.
“We commend this year’s Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement winners on their hard work and dedication to STEM subjects, and we thank the teachers, parents and schools who supported their scholarship,” said Jeniffer Harper-Taylor, president of the Siemens Foundation.
The Siemens Foundation provides more than $7 million annually in support of educational initiatives in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the United States. The foundation’s goal is to support students and nurture tomorrow’s scientist and engineers.
