Praying for the destruction of ignorance and prejudice

To the editor:

I am still astounded at some peoples’ bitter ignorance.

I refer to the sportscaster in Oklahoma, that spewed contempt and racial slurs to the young girls kneeling before a basketball game.

How is it that people still do not realize that kneeling is humbling oneself?

In Christianity, it’s a sign of worship, obedience and earnest prayer.

I remember when I was a kid, we were supposed to follow the rules. Part of that was saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I never said it. The ending, with liberty and justice for all was a lie( at that time).

When I felt we had begun to show justice, I proudly said every word, and meant it .

Tonight I’ll be kneeling, praying for the destruction of ignorance and prejudice and the rise of a more perfect union for our great America.
