HOMER - The Soldotna Stars used six runs in the fifth inning to score a 7-5 win over the Palmer Moose at Homer High School on Thursday.
The Stars' six-run fifth erased an early 2-0 deficit.
The come-from-behind victory marked Soldotna's first win in school history.
“To be honest, they were the lesser team, but we kind of let them stick around,” Palmer head coach David Combs said by phone on Thursday evening.
Errors on defense and a mere two hits on offense led to the Palmer loss, Combs said.
Combs said Palmer's highlight at the plate was an inside-the-park home run by senior Justin Ratcliff. Combs said the Soldotna center fielder tried to make a play on the ball, but the ball got by and rolled to the fence.
Derek Eley started the game on the mound for the Moose, and Cole Smith pitched in relief.
Palmer stays in Homer and will face the Mariners today.
