WASILLA — The Houston Hawks split a pair of Southcentral Conference games at Houston High School Saturday afternoon.
Ben Bitler supplied 16 points and five rebounds to lead the Houston boys to a 58-39 win over the Bulldogs. Kade Taylor added 14 in the win. Jace Kornstad led Nikiski with a game-high 20.
The Nikiski girls jumped out to an 18-0 first quarter led and held a 28-4 advantage at the half in a 56-22 victory over the Hawks. Aspen Ruth led Houston with nine.
ACS sweeps Houston
Despite a big night from Houston’ Kade Taylor, Anchorage Christian managed to score a 79-61 boys’ basketball win over the Hawks Friday night at Houston High School.
Taylor finished with 33 points in the loss. He shot 11 of 20, including 8 of 16 from beyond the arc. Ben Bitler added 14 points and five rebounds in the loss.
The ACS girls scored a 63-31 win over the Hawks. Lacy Holms led Houston with seven points.
