PALMER - With a 28-8 win over North Pole at Machetanz Field on Saturday, the Palmer Moose improved to 4-1 in Railbelt play and secured one of the conference's four playoff spots.
Senior running back Devin Konkler scampered for 203 yards on 22 carries, and scored three times in the win. Senior quarterback Conrad Smith added 93 yards and a touchdown.
Thanks to the victory, Palmer can finish no worse than third in the conference. Juneau has already won the Railbelt title, and is a perfect 6-0. The Moose are in second at 4-1, followed by Wasilla (3-2), Colony (2-3) and North Pole (2-3). Palmer and Wasilla meet next week in a game that could decide who hosts a first-round playoff game.
