Prep football: Moose clinch spot in postseason with a 28-8 win over North Pole

PALMER - With a 28-8 win over North Pole on Saturday at Machetanz Field, the Palmer Moose improved to 4-1 in Railbelt Confernece play and secured one of the conference's four playoff spots.

Senior running back Devin Konkler scampered for 203 yards on 22 carries in the win. He also scored three times. Senior quarterback Conrad Smith added 93 yards and a touchdown in the win.

The stout Palmer defense held its opponent to just a single touchdown for the second consecutive week.

Juneau has already clinched the Railblet title, and is in first with a 6-0 mark. Palmer currently stands in second at 4-1, and closes the season against Wasilla next week at Wasilla High School. The Warriors are 3-2 in conference play after their 28-21 overtime win over Colony at CHS on Friday. The Knights and Patriots are each at 2-3.
