Prep hockey: Colony skates to tie with South; Warriors beat Hawks

WASILLA — The Colony Knights skated to a nonconference draw against South Anchorage Tuesday at the Menard Arena in Wasilla.

Each squad bagged a pair of second-period goals in the 2-2 tie. Jake Kirsch and Otto Thiele each finished with a goal and an assist during the game.

Alex Gamez enjoyed another stellar effort in net, recording 50 saves in the tie.

South is currently the top team in the Cook Inlet Conference. Colony is ranked second in the Northern Lights Conference.

Warriors edge Hawks

Russell Harren and Porter Schachle each scored twice to lead the Wasilla Warriors to a 4-2 nonconference win over the Houston Hawks Wednesday at the Menard Arena in Wasilla.

Harren scored early in the first to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead. He added a shorthanded goal midway through the second to push Wasilla’s advantage to 3-1. Schachle added a pair of shorthanded goals for the Warriors.

Tyler Chivers and Andrew Natekin scored for the Hawks.
