PALMER — Three games, three wins and 27 total goals.
Palmer finished 3-0, scoring nine goals each day, during a three-day weekend tour of the Interior. After thumping Division II North Pole and Hutchison during the first two days, Palmer capped its trip with a 9-1 win over the Division I Lathrop-West Valley co-op team Saturday morning in Fairbanks. Zach Nelius scored three goals for the Moose, giving Palmer a player with a hat trick during each of the three wins over the weekend. Jesse Biddle scored twice. Alex Nelius, Pierce Brooks, Nathan Hooks and Caden Webb also scored.
Darian Wilson notched a hat trick during a 9-0 win over Hutchison on Friday. Zach Nelius and Rhys Allen added a pair of goals each for the Moose. Jack Matlock and Easton Armstrong also scored.
Palmer skated past North Pole 9-3 on Thursday in the Interior.
Matlock finished with a hat trick against the Patriots. Nelius scored twice. Luke Theisen, Hooks, Brooks and Wilson also scored.
Warriors sweep Lathrop-West Valley
The Wasilla Warriors scored a pair of Mid-Alaska Conference wins over the Lathrop-West Valley co-op team Thursday and Friday in Fairbanks.
Thursday, Wasilla used a three-goal second to grab a 4-1 win. Langston Bouma, Colin Goff, Chase Schacle and Holden Wiltfong scored for Wasilla. The Warriors followed with a 6-3 win on Friday. Goff, Schachle, Troy Randle, Hunter Parsons and Aaron Koivenen scored for the Warriors.
Mustangs skate past Knights
Four different players scored and led Chugiak to a 4-2 nonconference win over the Colony Knights Tuesday at the MacDonald Arena in Eagle River.
Jarett Belkett, Tyler Huffer, Cullen McCormick and Luke Momblow each found the back of the net for the Mustangs. Dane Jellich and Owen McDonald scored for the Knights.
Chugiak outshot Colony 33-18 in the win. Kaylee Norman made 28 saves for the Knights.
Jellich scored shorthanded with 7:20 left in the first to tie the score at 1. McDonald’s goal came with 1:03 to play. Blake Reid assisted on both goals for the Knights.
