PALMER — It took only 43 seconds for the Palmer Moose to take a tie game and blow it wide open.
The Moose scored three times during a 43-second span of the first period and cruised to an 11-4 nonconference win over the Houston Hawks at the MTA Palmer Ice Arena on Tuesday.
Jack Reeves, Stephen Acher and Thomas Morino each scored during that span to help the Moose with their fifth straight.
Reeves snapped the 1-1 tie when he slipped a puck by Houston goalie Ben Barenburg at the 7:43 mark of the first. Less than 30 seconds later, Reeves set up an Acher score. Morino capped that quick run with a goal off a shot from the point.
Ten different players scored for the Moose and nine players had at least two points each. Reeves led Palmer with two goals. Piers LaFrance scored a goal and collected a team-high three assists. Marissa Ketterman grabbed a goal and two assists.
Rye Humphreys posted the hat trick for the Hawks in the loss. The senior captain scored on the power play early in the third to tie the game at 1. Late in the third, Humphreys converted a penalty shot. The senior completed the hat trick by slipping a puck into the Palmer net just before the final horn sounded.
Lane Styers also scored for Houston.
Ben Fujimoto earned the win in the Palmer net.
