WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors skated to an 8-2 win over the Houston Hawks at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla on Wednesday.
Seven different Warriors scored and senior Adam Friese collected four assists during the nonconference win.
Freshman Ryder Conroy led the Warriors with two goals and two assists in the game. Senior Ben Barber, senior Jordan Elkins, senior Harvey Finch, senior Dane Wilson, freshman Mike Edwards and freshman Trent Wohlers also scored for WHS.
Freshman goalie Chris Yaskus recorded 18 saves in his first varsity win.
Houston scored twice in the third period.
Late goal lifts Moose
PALMER — Palmer junior Zack Richards scored midway through the third period to break a 3-3 tie and lift the Palmer Moose to a 4-3 win over the Colony Knights at the Palmer Ice Arena on Thursday.
Richards took a pass from linemate Jared Hanson, and slipped a shot past Colony netminder Charlie Holman with 7 minutes and 22 seconds left in regulation.
Palmer took a 2-0 lead in the first period, thanks to scores by Jared and Michael Hanson.
Michael, a junior, scored with 7:09 left in the first. Jared, a freshman, lit the lamp with 3:07 left.
Sophomore Tyler Isaacs scored in the second period for PHS.
Michael Hanson led the Moose with two assists.
Finish exchange student Risto Paatsama put the Knights on the scoreboard, with a goal 59 seconds into the second period. Senior Blake Huppert assisted on the play.
Colnoy tied the score at 3-3 with goals from sophomore Lance Nezaticky and junior Josh Pulczinski during a five-minute span early in the third period.
Senior Sam McQuillin earned the win in goal, stopping 16 CHS shots.
