WASILLA — The Houston Hawks fell just shy of their first boys’ basketball win over Grace Christian this season.
Despite Houston’s 18-9 fourth-quarter run, Grace Christian held on for a 52-51 Southcentral Conference win over the Hawks Friday night at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.
The Hawks shot 75 percent, 6 of 8, from the floor in the final quarter, and 47 percent in the game. That total percentage included a rough second quarter, in which Houston had just a single field goal. Kade Taylor led the Hawks with 21 points. Taylor hit a pair of shots from beyond the arc, and was 7 of 7 from the free throw line.
Ben Bitler added 13 points and five rebounds in the loss. Pelesasa also had five rebounds for Houston.
Tobin Karlberg led Grace with 27 points. Karlberg buried a half-dozen threes in the win.
In girls’ action, Houston suffered a 53-19 loss. Aspen Ruth led Houston with seven points.
