Prep hoops: Grizzlies sweep Houston

WASILLA — Two of the top scorers in the Southcentral Conference lit up the scoreboards Tuesday night.

Houston senior Kade Taylor scored a game-high 39 points, but Grace Christian’s Tobin Karlberg used a 36-point effort to lead the Grizzlies to a 71-62 win over the Hawks at Houston High School.

Taylor shot 14 of 30 from the field, and knocked down eight three pointers in the loss. Ben Bitler collected a double-double, with 14 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. Kolby Taylor finished with a game-best eight assists.

Grace led by only two possessions at the half, carrying a 31-25 advantage into the break. The Grizzlies extended their lead with a 20-11 third-quarter run. Grace had 40 points in the second half.

Karlberg hit his total on 13 of 22 shooting. He added nine rebounds in the win.

In girls’ action, Grace used an 18-6 second-quarter run to score a 49-26 win over the Hawks. Aspen Ruth led Houston with six points.

ACS sweeps Redington

Anchorage Christian School scored a pair of wins over Redington Tuesday.

The ACS boys posted an 88-15 win. The Lions girls won 78-15.
