The Colony boys placed fifth overall and were second among Region III teams in the race, which was won by Anchorage's Grace Christian School. The Palmer boys placed seventh, Wasilla was 12th, Susitna Valley 21st and Houston 22nd.
West Anchorage won the girls' overall title by placing three runners in the top-5. Colony's girls finished 11th, one spot ahead of Palmer, while Su Valley finished 19th.
Colony coach Mark Doner said he was happy with the team's performance, especially with Colony's top runner, Antone Zagars, battling an illness.
“He was a little under the weather,” Doner said.
Doner said the fifth place finish gives the Knights something to build on as the season progresses.
“We've got work to do, but they're eager to do it,” Doner said.
