Prep soccer matches rescheduled

MAT-SU — Local schools have been forced to tinker with their prep soccer schedules and the shuffling continued this week.

With Thursday’s snowfall, prep soccer schedules may be subject to change; however, no changes had been announced as of press time. See the Frontiersman online for updated game information at frontiersman.com.

Boys and girls varsity teams from Colony and Wasilla were slated to make the trip to Seward for matches this weekend, but poor field conditions in Seward are preventing the Seahawks from hosting. The matches were moved to the Valley, but since that happened Seward High School had to cancel its girls matches completely due to a lack of players.

Left in a flurry of change are a pair of boys matches. Colony will host Seward tonight at 6 p.m. and the Seahawks will visit Wasilla at 1 p.m.

April snowstorms in Southcentral Alaska have led to the cancellation of matches for a number of the local teams. The Palmer boys, Palmer girls, Wasilla boys and Wasilla girls have played just twice this season. The Colony girls have only one match in the book so far.

The Houston girls and boys are slated to open their season today against Nikiski at Houston High School. The HHS girls play at 4 and the boys follow at 6 p.m.
