Prep soccer: Moose open with win

ANCHORAGE — Senior forward Will Ott had four goals as the Palmer Moose opened their 2008 soccer campaign with an impressive 9-0 rout of Lumen Christi Monday at Anchorage Football Stadium.

“We did pretty well today,” Palmer coach Kevin Dearborn said following the game.

Palmer opened the game by scoring four goals in the first half, then picked up five more in the second.

“I don’t even think they got a shot on our goal,” Dearborn said.

Lumen Christi is in its first year of Northern Lights Conference play.

The Moose also got one goal each from Brennan Bohman, Lauri Husa, Zach Zegydryn, Steven Williams and Jake Psenak, who normally serves as the team’s backup goalie.

“I gave him some time up front,” Dearborn said.

Dearborn said the result was a nice way to start the season for the Moose, which won just one game against NLC competition during all of last season.

“It was nice to get out there. We’re already looking better than last year,” he said.
