Prep soccer: Palmer tops Houston

PALMER - The Palmer boys soccer squad improved to 5-0-0 with a 10-0 win over the Houston Hawks at Machetanz Field Wednesday.

Senior Devon Conroy continued his sprint toward Palmer's single season scoring record. With a hat trick against the Hawks, Conroy now has 10 goals this year. He has scored in every game this season, and has multiple goals in each of the last four games.

Conroy's 10 goal place him only five shy of the Moose record held by former Palmer standout and current Colony head coach Jeremy Johnson.

Conroy also added three assists in the win.

Palmer also got a multi-goal effort from senior Jason Hall, who scored twice.

Senior Ben Beetch posted a goal and three assists.

Senior Nick Gremley, junior Jerry Melin, junior Brian Senta and sophomore Will Ott also scored.

Senior keeper Trent Berberich notched his fifth-straight shutout in goal. The Moose have yet to allow a goal this season.

Despite Palmer's 10-goal win, Moose head coach said he is seeing an improvement in the Houston program.

&#8220Houston's improved a lot I think. They're starting to look like a soccer team,” Harrison said.

While Palmer competed in its fifth contest of the year, Houston played in just its second game. The Hawks suffered a 2-0 loss to Seward last week.
