WASILLA — Colony continued to cruise past opponents as both the Knights boys and girls soccer teams each scored another lopsided victory Friday.
Cade Johnstone recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Colony boys to a 7-1 win over Lathrop. Johnstone gave his team the early 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, assisted on a Ben Sande goal during the 37th minute and scored another goal just two minutes later.
Johnstone’s work helped Colony build a 4-1 hafltime lead.
Alex Valdez also scored twice for the Knights. Cameron Shaw added a goal and an assist. Dawson King rounded out the scoring, with his first career varsity goal. The score was set up by a long throw in courtesy of Martin Jones.
The Colony girls also won big, beating Lathrop 6-1.
Senior Peyton Johnstone scored four goals for the second straight game. Natalie Norland and Rina Inagaki also scored for the Knights.
Both the Colony boys and girls have each scored 20 total goals in their last three games.
The Colony boys are now 5-2-0, and the girls are 4-0-0.
After suffering a pair of tough losses to Valley rivals earlier in the month, the Palmer girls soccer squad notched a win over a Northern Lights Conference North Division rival Thursday.
Haley Hanson and Gurpreet Singh each scored second-half goals to lead Palmer to a 2-0 win over Grace Christian at Palmer High School. Hanson gave the Moose a 1-0 lead with a goal during the 25th minute. Singh scored 11 minutes later.
Desi Molina earned the shutout in goal to help Palmer improve to 1-3-0 overall.
In boys’ action, Grace slipped past Palmer 2-1. Manveer Singh scored the lone goal for the Moose.
Tim Voloshin converted a late penalty kick to lift Wasilla to a 1-0 boys’ soccer nonconference win over Lathrop Thursday at Wasilla High School.
The Wasilla girls also needed a late goal Thursday, using Alia Donley’s penalty kick with five minutes left to force a 1-1 tie. Wasilla outshot the Malemutes 17-2 in the tie.
The Wasilla boys improved to 3-3-0 win the win. The Wasilla girls are now 2-1-2.
North Pole used a pair of goals in each half to post a 4-1 nonconference girls soccer win over Palmer Friday night at Palmer High School.
Emily Roberts scored the lone goal for Palmer, notching the score during the 24th minute.
The North Pole boys blanked Palmer 2-0 later in the evening.
The Palmer girls dropped to 1-4-0 and the boys fell to 1-5-0.
