Wasilla High sophomore Brett Keene has been named the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman Student-Athlete of the Week.
Keene, a forward for the Wasilla hockey team, scored two second-period goals to help the Wasilla Warriors rally during a loss to Lathrop during the second day of the 2011 First National Cup 4A state hockey championships at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena last Friday.
Keene nearly netted the hat trick in the period.
“Hopefully that’s a turning point for him, give him some confidence going into next year,” Wasilla head coach Bill Sturdevant said. “He showed flashes all season.”
The Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman congratulates Keene on his success.
