Prep swimming: Warrior boys win SoHi Pentathlon

SOLDOTNA — The Wasilla High School boys’ swimming squad won the Soldotna Pentathlon at Soldotna High School on Friday.

Wasilla placed three swimmers in the top-10 of the meet that has each athlete compete in five different events — the individual medley, butterfly, backstroke and freestyle.

Christian Long led the Warriors with a fourth-place finish. Tommy Hightower and Charles Frey also finished in the top-10 for Wasilla.

Jeffrey Frey led the Colony Knights with a second-place finish. Colony placed fifth in the team standings.

Kyle Johnson was the top Palmer swimmer, finishing 10th.

The Colony girls — led by sophomore Katelyn Payne’s third-place performance — finished third in the girls’ team standings.

Wasilla’s Caitey Stigen led the Warriors’ with a ninth-place finish in the girls’ overall results.
