Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

It sometimes takes a community to inspire a child.
This past week at Academy Charter School, during the intensive program “To Build a Barn,” 12 eighth-grade students got a chance to give back to their school. This would have been difficult without the help of Del Ruppert, who came out of retirement to give guidance during the building.
Others who lent a welcome helping hand were Nikki at Spenard Builders Supply, Jerry at Rodda Paint and Billy of A-1 Towing.
The smiles from the younger children will be limitless for their new barn, complete with 12 stick horses. Sean Reilly, a teacher at Academy, provided assurance that anything is possible, and within five days the project was completed. The eighth-graders will look back on this part of the school year with pride.
Thank you again for your help with this project.
