To the editor:
When our son, Pete, told us that he would run for State House, we asked him what made him decide to run. He answered that the fact a candidate was to run unopposed was troubling and the idea that the people of Palmer would not have a choice as to who would represent them in Juneau is just not right. He wanted to change that and give the people a choice.
Pete hasn’t taken this decision lightly. He has been going door-to-door talking with people and discussing issues. He has been inviting voters to have coffee with him every Saturday. He has been working diligently, with the certainty that this position should not be handed freely to him or any other candidate. Pete’s actions speak loudly; he loves the Matanuska Valley and its people, his heart is truly here, and he wants what is best for the people.
