MAT-SU — Local residents have until April 25 to comment on the management plan for Willow Mountain Critical Habitat Area.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Divisions of Habitat and Wildlife Conservation, has scheduled a series of scoping meeting to share information and concerns about the management plan.
This is a first step in Fish and Game’s year-long effort to write a Management Plan for the area.
Public scoping meetings are at:
• Willow, 7 p.m., April 3, Willow Community Center
• Wasilla, 7 p.m., April 9, Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Complex
• Anchorage, 7 p.m., April 11, Z.J. Loussac Library
Fish and Game seeks information on how people use the area and its resources; ideas on how to manage activities; and public uses that are compatible with the WMCHA’s mission to protect fish, wildlife and their habitats.
Some issues that have been addressed in other CHA Management Plans are: access, motorized vehicle use, trails, structures, commercial uses, public facilities, mining, and habitat enhancement projects.
