MAT-SU - The Mat-Su Borough Assembly is considering several ordinances Tuesday night that would appropriate millions of dollars for school construction and capital improvement projects.
One ordinance up for a public hearing tonight would appropriate more than $28 million to fund school projects, involving the acquisition, construction and installation of school and related capital improvements within the borough.
A related resolution would approve the scope of work and the budget for the 2005 general obligation school bond construction projects.
Another ordinance being introduced tonight and set for a public hearing at 7 p.m. April 19 calls for appropriating $13,650 from the 2004 general obligation school bond interest earnings to fund the purchase and installation of roof-strapping systems for selected borough schools.
The Assembly, tonight, is also expected to vote on whether to award a $9.8-million bid to Collins Construction for the construction of the new Wasilla-area elementary school. The school is scheduled to open in fall 2006.
