Wasilla City Council
Council meets for its regular meeting at 6 p.m., Jan. 24. Included on the agenda is an ordinance to specify an annual salary for council members of $225 per regular meeting (which is the current compensation) and an ordinance to pay council members $100 for every special meeting or borough meeting attended as an official representative of the city. The council meets at city hall, 290 E. Herning Ave., unless otherwise noted.
Palmer Chamber of Commerce
Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce meets Wednesdays at the Palmer Moose Lodge from noon to 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit palmerchamber.org. This week’s meeting includes a presentation from the Alaska Film Commission.
Palmer City Council
Palmer City Council meets at 231 W. Evergreen Ave. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday to discuss the city clerk’s evaluation. That will be followed at 7 p.m. with the council’s regular meeting. Included on the agenda is a proposal to amend the city code regarding elections to lengthen the timeframe to withdraw a nominating petition and allow absentee voting by electronic means.
Houston City Council
Houston City Council meets the second Thursday of each month at 13878 W. Armstrong Road at 7 p.m. Council is scheduled to meet in a work session at 6 p.m., Jan. 24 to discuss the city’s budget. Also on Jan. 24, a special council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Mat-Su Borough Assembly
Mat-Su Borough Assembly meets at 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, unless otherwise noted. The next scheduled assembly meeting is a special session Tuesday, rescheduled from Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. The agenda includes certifying the Jan. 11 special borough election.
Mat-Su Borough Schools
The school board will next meet at 6 p.m., Feb. 2 for a regular meeting in the upper library at Palmer High School. An agenda for this meeting has not yet been posted.
