Council meets for its regular meeting at 6 p.m., Jan. 24. Included on the agenda is an ordinance to specify an annual salary for council members of $225 per regular meeting (which is the current compensation) and an ordinance to pay council members $100 for every special meeting or borough meeting attended as an official representative of the city. The council meets at city hall, 290 E. Herning Ave., unless otherwise noted.
Big Lake Chamber meets the first and third Monday of the month at the Big Lake Family Restaurant at noon. The next meeting is set for Monday.
Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce meets Wednesdays at the Palmer Moose Lodge from noon to 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit palmerchamber.org. This week’s meeting includes a presentation from the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce meets Tuesdays, noon to 1 p.m., for its weekly chamber membership lunch at Glacier Canyon Grill located inside Grand View Inn and Suites. Program fee is $5 and meetings are open to the public.
Palmer City Council meets at 231 W. Evergreen Ave. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday to discuss a potential conflict of interest with mayor DeLena Johnson concerning her involvement in the Matanuska Maid property project. The project will also be discussed with the project committee. Another special meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Jan. 25 to discuss the city clerk’s evaluation. According to the agenda, “personnel action regarding the city clerk may be taken following the executive session.”
Mat-Su Borough Assembly meets at 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, unless otherwise noted. The next scheduled assembly meeting is a special session at 3 p.m., Jan. 18 to discuss federal legislative priorities with the borough’s lobbyist. The assembly’s regularly scheduled meeting follows at 6 p.m.
The school board will next meet at 6 p.m., Jan. 18 for a work session at the MSBSD central office, 501 N. Gulkana, Palmer. The next regular board meeting will be at 6 p.m., Jan. 19 in the upper library at Palmer High School.
Meets the second Thursday of each month at 13878 W. Armstrong Road at 7 p.m. Council is scheduled to meet in a work session at 6 p.m., Jan. 24 to discuss the city’s budget. Also on Jan. 24, a special council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. There was no agenda for the meeting posted on the city’s website announcing the meeting.
