Wasilla City Council

Wasilla City Council meets for its regular meeting at 6 p.m., Feb. 14. An agenda for the meeting is not yet available. The council meets at city hall, 290 E. Herning Ave., unless otherwise noted.

Wasilla Chamber of Commerce

Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce meets Tuesdays, noon to 1 p.m., for its weekly chamber membership lunch at Glacier Canyon Grill, inside Grand View Inn and Suites. Program fee is $5 and meetings are open to the public.

Big Lake Chamber of Commerce

Big Lake Chamber meets the first and third Monday of the month at the Big Lake Family Restaurant at noon. The next meeting is set for Feb. 7.

Palmer Chamber of Commerce

Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce meets Wednesdays at the Palmer Moose Lodge from noon to 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit palmerchamber.org. This week’s meeting includes a community forum.

Palmer City Council

Palmer City Council meets at 231 W. Evergreen Ave. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The council’s next regular meeting scheduled for Feb. 8 has been canceled due to a lack of a quorum. There will be a special meeting Feb. 15. A time or agenda for that meeting are not yet available.

Houston City Council

Houston City Council meets the second Thursday of each month at 13878 W. Armstrong Road at 7 p.m. Council is scheduled to meet in a work session at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 3 to discuss the city’s mill rate. The next regular council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Feb. 10.

Mat-Su Borough Assembly

Mat-Su Borough Assembly meets at 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, unless otherwise noted. The next scheduled assembly meeting is a special session Tuesday at 5 p.m. That will be followed by a regular assembly meeting at 6 p.m.

Mat-Su Borough School District

The school board will next meet at 6 p.m., Wednesday for a regular meeting in the upper library at Palmer High School. Agenda items include an action item on a resolution to the State Board of Education that civics be a required course in public high schools, first reading of a statute against designated smoking areas for students, as it is unlawful for minors to give, sell, use or possess cigarettes or other tobacco products.
