On any given night, an estimated 470,000 Americans are homeless. Many of these individuals are looking to lift their spirits and the Bible can help, providing guidance and inspiration.
The Scriptures show that, time and time again, the homeless and the suffering to sustain them and give them hope. Now many of these passages have been collected in a free booklet, designed to remind people of their great worth in God's eyes -- even when they have given up on themselves.
The booklet, "God Is Always With You," was compiled by the American Bible Society.
It contains some of the most powerful words from the Scriptures, which are meant to be shared with anyone who needs them.
As the homeless read and think about the Bible's promises and words of hope, they may find faith and renewed strength to carry on, confident in the knowledge that God is always there.
The booklet is divided into four sections, accompanied by passages from the Old and New Testaments.
Each section of "God Is Always With You" addresses different aspects of the homeless experience, offering both consolation and consideration, which individuals may interpret to suit their specified situations.
The American Bible Society suggests that "God Is Always With You" be shared with homeless shelters, soup kitchens, churches and social service organizations.
The publication provides a wealth of material and information to give comfort to those in need, and is a good community resource.
