WASILLA — It took spike strips and a police dog to finally arrest an Anchorage man who allegedly sped past Alaska State Troopers in a stolen car while intoxicated.
According to an AST press statement, at 7:02 a.m., Saturday, troopers spotted a Toyota Tundra speeding along the northbound lanes of the Glenn Highway.
“The driver passed AST at approximately 110 mph in a 65 mph speed zone,” according to the press release.
Troopers tried to pull the pickup over, but it kept going, through the interchange and onto the Parks Highway.
Now in Wasilla, police officers joined in, tossing out spike strips that deflated the pickup’s tires.
“The driver exited the vehicle in the parking lot of Walgreen’s in Wasilla and a Wasilla police (dog) was deployed,” according to the press release.
That’s when troopers finally apprehended Jason Isenberg, 28, of Anchorage. The pickup had been reported stolen in Anchorage.
Isenberg was arrested for failing to stop for a police officer, vehicle theft, assault, reckless driving, driving under the influence, disorderly conduct and driving on a revoked license. He was jailed without bail at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. As of Monday morning, he was still there.
