The Juneau Road is dangerous because of “avalanche” and “landslides.” As someone who competed in the Dyea to Dawson ultra marathon I have seen the area where the road would be built. It would always be a danger for slides and rock falls.
If Alaskans were to vote on this proposed expenditure, the answer would be no! Our small schools are being dismantled.
Here in Seward, they have cut 7 percent of the high school staff and eliminated the Quest (G/T) program, which I was fortunate to teach for 30 years. At the middle school they cut an hour from the day, eliminated music, art and every exploratory ,and every student had to show up to take “remedial math” because the school didn’t pass the No Child Left Behind law.
This money would be much better spent on improving our schools.
