Questions Jordan, MEA management

I am not a member of the IBEW and do not have family members associated with a union. I am a member-owner of Matanuska Electric Association and I am as concerned with board President Lee Jordan's lack of respect and honesty as I am with the organization’s senior management.

Should the spouse of the manager be supporting a board candidate and oppose another board member? Should employees of MEA be sending political (party) information during working hours using MEA computers? The old advice holds true here: Follow the money. It is not coming from the IBEW.

Have you looked at your ballot? Be aware that the opinion MEA advisory vote items were not brought before our board of directors for approval. Just who is running MEA?

Last spring we were asked where to put a coal-fired power plant. We were not asked if we wanted one. We overwhelmed MEA with individual member-owner voices mad that we were asked that question. Recently, MEA conceded it did not get any bids to build that plant. Currently, the courts have ruled that new plants cannot buy pollution credits, as this was not the intent of the program. Yet MEA had assured us it would be allowed.

I am not against power generation, but how can many small plants produce cheaper electricity than a consolidated Railbelt generation facility? Isn’t it better to spread the capital outlay over a larger consumer base, along with the cost of operation?

Is this about MEA power or about our electricity? I am tired of seeing the childish and unprofessional tirades of junior management, senior management and the rude behavior of Mr. Jordan.
