WASILLA —A young Wasilla Warriors squad had another tough night Thursday.
Sparked by a pair of touchdowns during the first three minutes of play, Dimond cruised to a 48-10 nonconference win over Wasilla at Veterans Memorial Field.
Wasilla, which was held to 112 yards of total offense in the game, dropped to 0-4 overall with the loss. Dimond, meanwhile, used Kyle Henrickson’s five touchdown passes to improve to 3-1.
In just two quarters of play, Henrickson threw for 217 yards and five touchdowns, and added a 1-yard touchdown run. The junior quarterback connected with Henry Tanuvasa for a 37-yard touchdown score on the fifth play of the game. After Dimond’s Chris Gardiline recovered a Wasilla fumble on the ensuing kickoff, Henrickson tossed a short 1-yard touchdown score to Dylan Tufaga.
Just 2 minutes and 25 seconds into regulation, Dimond held the 13-0 lead.
Henrickson hit Tufaga for a 7-yard score late in the first quarter. On the first play of the second quarter, Henrickson found Raffa Zavala on a 31-yard touchdown pass. Late in the first half, Tanuvasa caught a 3-yard Henrickson touchdown pass.
Vondell Pilcher added a touchdown run for the Lynx in the second half.
Nick Alexander led Wasilla with 59 yards and a touchdown. Carson Reed kicked a 45-yard field goal for Wasilla in the first half.
