Colony High School senior Kelly Quinn signed a letter of intent Monday to attend Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash.
Quinn received a full scholarship from the Division II university to play basketball for the Wildcats team.
"I made my decision to go there at the beginning of April," Quinn said. "It is a big load off my shoulders to have this done."
Quinn said she will be playing either the point or shooting guard position for the Wildcats, hoping to get into a three-player rotation with two senior guards who are already filling the positions.
"The Wildcats are a guard-oriented team," Quinn said. "I will play behind the seniors but hope to eventually start."
Quinn is a four-year varsity letterman and starter in basketball at Colony, earning Alaska all-state first team selections in 2001 and 2002 and a Region III most valuable player award.
"It should be a really positive experience," Quinn said. "We will play UAA and UAF during the seasons, so it will give me a chance to get home during the season."
