Railbelt commuter rail needed

To the editor:

In the Mat-Su Frontiersman article headlined "Railroad eyes commuter options" (Jan. 19, 2012), Andrew Wellner reports that self-propelled rail cars are here, but that legislative action is needed to make commuter rail service a reality.

We need reliable commuter rail service along the Railbelt with major new stops in Wasilla, Houston, Willow, etc. Many of us are either not able to, or do not wish to, drive on our dangerous, un-divided highway. Commuter rail service would enhance our lives in many ways along the Railbelt and it would greatly increase our property values.

Our strong support is needed now, or else this will remain only a dream. Please, email all of our beloved representatives as follows: "Please, enact legislation needed to fully fund regular, year-round commuter rail service for the Railbelt to enhance our lives by making commuting safer, more reliable and less expensive for us."

May God inspire our representatives and our governor to pass such legislation before our time on the Earth is finished!
