Railroad announces Train Photo Contest winner

On Tuesday, the Alaska Railroad announced David Blazejewski of Anchorage, Alaska as the grand prize winner of the Catch the Train Photo Contest. David Blazejewski’s photograph was selected by the public through online voting via the Alaska Railroad Facebook page. His image of the Alaska Railroad next to the Alaska State Fairgrounds garnered more than 1,000 votes. David Blazejewski will receive the honor of having his photograph featured on the cover of the Alaska Railroad’s 12-month 2019 calendar, as well as $1,500 and the Railroad’s Denali Getaway package, which includes round-trip rail travel for four to Denali National Park and overnight accommodations at the Grande Denali Lodge.

All Catch the Train Photo Contest finalists were selected based on artistic merit, originality, subject and style of the photo submitted. Each finalist will have his or her photo featured as a month of the 2019 calendar as well as displayed in the Alaska Railroad’s 2018 Panoramas onboard magazine. They also receive travel for two on the Alaska Railroad route of their choice.
