Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ralph “Willey” B. Willey, 66, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Feb. 2, 2006, at his home, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Willey was born March 3, 1939, in Utica, Ohio, the son of the late John Medford and Esther Ferne Sandbrink Willey.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Suez Crisis, he was formerly employed as a sheet-metal worker for DelMonde Co. of Columbus, Ohio. Formerly of Alaska and Idaho, he has been a Zanesville-area resident since 1998. He was a life member of VFW Glennallen Lodge in Glennallen, where he was past commander and a member of Eagles Lodge 302.
Survivors are his wife, Rebecca “Becky” M. Porter Willey, whom he married Sept. 5, 1959; daughters, Laura Kale and Betty (Bill) Schorr, both of Anchorage; one grandchild; one stepgrandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Marge) Willey of Brownsville, Ohio; sister, Nancy (Phil) Kreager of Newark, Ohio; half-brother, Robert Willey of Newark; stepbrother, Robert Kittel of Newark, Ohio; sister-in-law, Linda Willey of Hanover, Ohio; stepsister-in-law: Ann Kittel of Newark and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Benjamin Miles Willey; brother, James “Jim” Willey and step-brother, John Kittel. Honoring Mr. Willey's wishes, a cremation and a private family service will take place at a later date. Bryan Funeral Home, Zanesville, Ohio, made arrangements.
